Competition Process
You can find out about the participation conditions for the categories on the website. Submit the online short application form by December 31st, 2022 to take part in the competition.
The jury evaluates the short applications and, based on the results, invites participants to write a full application which must be submitted by February 28th, 2023. If required, the jury offers coaching for this process.
The jury evaluates the full applications and selects the finalists (shortlist). The finalists will present their initiatives to the jury in March/April 2023, after which the jury will deliberate on the winners of the Eco Performance Award 2023.
The winners of the award will be honoured at an exclusive digital award ceremony. All shortlisted candidates will be invited to this event in May 2023.

Categories & Application Requirements 2023

Participants must have a clear relation to all three dimensions of sustainability as well as an obligatory relation to road freight transport (e.g. multimodal transport, value added services etc.).

Participants must have an official office in Europe.

The submitted concepts and projects must have been implemented in practice.

The EPA 2023 sets a particular focus on digital support within the submitted concepts and projects.

Large
Companies
-
Disposition sovereignty over a truck fleet is mandatory.

Small & Medium-Sized Enterprises
-
Disposition sovereignty over a truck fleet is mandatory.

Start-ups
-
Start-ups may not be older than five years, must have highly innovative ideas and constant growth, but do not require disposition sovereignty over a fleet of trucks.

Transformer of the Year
-
This category rewards particularly sustainable transformation processes in road freight transport, also based on digital solutions, regardless of the size of the company. No dispatching sovereignty over a truck fleet is required.
Jury
The careful checking of incoming concepts is carried out by an experienced specialist jury. The jury of experts consists of of respected members from different practical backgrounds and the scientific sector. Under the chairmanship of Professor Dr. Wolfgang Stölzle (Managing Director of the Institue for Supply Chain Management at the University of St. Gallen), the winners of the Eco Performance Awards are selected according to various evaluation criteria.
